R. Joseph Newell
Chief Financial Officer
Joe started at Elkins in 1999 as the assistant controller and was quickly promoted to controller in 2002, then Chief Financial Officer in 2008. As CFO, he oversees all of the financial and accounting processes for the company including banking, job costing and payroll. Joe developed and manages one of Elkins’ most important business tools, our proprietary enterprise application called IBILD.
He serves as treasurer of the Northeast Florida Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). He is also a member of the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association.
Coming to us from Tennessee, Joe has been a resident of Jacksonville since 1999. He started his career in a manufacturing company, serving as a corporate officer and Manager of Strategic Planning. He was instrumental in engineering an employee buy-out from the parent company during his tenure.
He is a graduate of the University of Florida's Fisher School of Accounting. While in school, Joe was a member and officer of Alpha Kappa Psi, the nation’s oldest and largest national business fraternity.
Joe and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters. They are members of San Jose Catholic Church. When he’s not at Elkins, he enjoys time with his family, golfing, fishing and cheering for the Fighting Florida Gators!
