James L. Gajewski
Vice President, Risk Management, Safety and Human Resources

Jim specializes in human resources, risk management, safety and corporate legal issues, including contract review. He has been a resident of St. Augustine, Florida, and a member of the Elkins team since 1984. Jim began his career in construction in 1971 when he graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in business management. He also attended Purdue University, conducting graduate work in industrial management.

Jim is past president of the Associated Builders and Contractors', First Coast chapter, past president of Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida, and a member of the National Board of Directors for the ABC, serving from 1997 to 1999. Since 1990, Jim has been a member of the Meninak Club of Jacksonville, a community service organization. For the past several years, Jim has been a mentor to students at Matthew Gilbert Middle School and William Raines High School.

Jim’s business philosophy developed from the open, team-oriented environment maintained at Elkins, and he enjoys the variety of challenges that result from his management of several diverse departments. In his role, he can contribute to the entire well being of the company rather than serve just one sector of the business. The ability to understand various aspects of the construction industry gives Jim a caring and supportive managerial style that contributes significantly to the cohesion and overall effectiveness of all Elkins employees.
