Elkins Constructors, Inc. Completes $18 Million Elementary School
Orange Park, FL — Elkins Constructors, Inc. recently completed construction of the new $18 million Plantation Oaks Elementary School for the School District of Clay County. The 125,000 square foot elementary school will open in August 2009. The owner required the building to be completed in 14 months. However, Elkins was able to complete the project two months ahead of the owner’s schedule.
The school was constructed using concrete tilt-panels and has a Loadmaster and metal roof system. The building has classrooms, administrative space, a media center, kitchen, cafeteria, multi-purpose room and play fields.
The site was developed near wetlands and required extensive site work. The proximity of the site to neighborhoods and an existing school required constant communication and coordination to prevent interference with daily activities and traffic. Specific safety procedures and a traffic maintenance plan were developed for this project.
McCullar & Boatright Architects principal Brian Boatright said, “The Elkins team displayed the highest degree of integrity, and provided quality construction for our elementary school design. I appreciate the hard work and dedication that went into this project.”
Elkins Constructors, Inc., headquartered in Jacksonville, FL has been providing construction management, design/build and general contracting services throughout the Southeastern United States since 1955.
