Elkins Constructors, Inc. Breaks Ground on New Senior Living Community

Port St. Lucie, Florida - Elkins Constructors, Inc. broke ground on a $26.5 million, 170-unit luxury senior living community in Port St. Lucie, FL on Friday.

The project, Abingdon at Tradition, is a development for Senior Living Communities, based in Charlotte, NC. The gated retirement community will include 96 condominium-style villas, 24 assisted living villas, and an Alzheimer’s patient facility with 24 beds.

The 30-acre campus will offer a clubhouse and wellness center, indoor and outdoor pools, gatehouse, putting green, maintenance facility, and a community dining area with commercial kitchen. The community, consisting of 206,000 SF, is expected to open in November 2009.

Senior Living Communities also operates Watersong in Viera and The Lakes at Pointe West in Vero Beach, both built by Elkins Constructors. Elkins completed seven residential projects in the last two years.
