Elkins Constructors, Inc. Wins Southeast Construction Best of 2007 Awards

Jacksonville, Florida - Elkins Constructors, Inc. won two awards from Southeast Construction magazine’s Best of 2007 awards program for the University of North Florida Social Sciences Building and the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens.

UNF Social Sciences Building earned an Excellence Award. The Cummer won a Merit Award. The annual competition recognizes construction and design excellence from the Southeast region of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

An independent jury of industry experts in design and construction judged 150 nominated projects in more than 20 categories in September. Eligible projects had to be located within the four-state region and completed between Sept. 1, 2006 and Sept. 1, 2007.

The Elkins’ projects, along with 83 other winners, will be featured in the December 2007 issue of Southeast Construction and will be honored at an awards luncheon to be held at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate on Tuesday, November 27. In addition, a “Judges’ Award” for best overall project will be unveiled at the November 27 event.

The jury recognized projects based on entry criteria including project management, construction and design challenges, client service and safety. Design entries were judged on unity with nearby societal and environmental elements, among other criteria.

Southeast Construction is a monthly regional construction publication published by the McGraw-Hill Companies.
