Elkins Constructors Wins ABC Awards

Jacksonville, Florida - Elkins Constructors, Inc., won two awards at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Awards on August 3. The awards ceremony was held at the University of North Florida’s University Center in Jacksonville and recognized outstanding construction projects in the area.

The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Phase III, won an Excellence Award for the $2 million - 10 million renovation category. The project involved a gallery and meeting space addition and renovation to a premier museum housing collections of priceless art. This project was particularly sensitive because of the public traffic through the museum and the extreme care that had to be taken with the priceless works of art.

The University of North Florida Social Sciences Building received a Merit Award for the $5 million - 10 million, institutional category. As the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) registered facility in Jacksonville, the 70,589-square-foot Social Sciences Building set a new standard for construction. This project proved that environmentally sensitive or “green” buildings can be built economically and timely. The facility houses classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and faculty and staff offices.

Headquartered in downtown Jacksonville, FL, Elkins Constructors, Inc., is a privately held construction firm serving clients with construction management, design/build and general contracting needs throughout the Southeast since 1955.
