Green Building/LEED

The benefits of green building are both immediate and far-reaching, influencing energy usage, employee health and more. Our commitment to environmental stewardship has positioned us at the forefront of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

We built the first LEED building in Jacksonville and soon will be headquartered in a LEED building. Elkins is an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council and our staff includes LEED-accredited professionals.

Sustainable design and environmentally conscious construction require a close partnership between clients and the design and construction team. Elkins supports that partnership, providing detailed service that sees projects through to LEED certification. We incorporate sustainability at the outset of development and work with architects to ensure proper planning and execution of green building design.

Green building eliminates a significant portion of construction waste, reduces impact on civic infrastructure and enhances architectural aesthetics and the use of available natural power sources. Elkins explores all avenues to help our clients realize the highest benefits of green construction.
